Assistance Available
The Home Instruction Program offers individualized assistance for each Home Instruction family and student. Visiting teachers offer support, advocacy and verification. Benefits of being involved with the assistance program include:
- Regularly scheduled visits with a certified teacher
- Weekly enrichment classes offered, grouped by age levels
- BUDDIES: K-1 grade
- CHUMS: 2-4 grade
- FRIENDS: 5-7 grade
- PALS: 8-12 grade
- Standardized testing and informal evaluations at no cost, all are optional
- Iowa Assessment—Grades 2-12, offered late March/ early April, taken at Central Campus
- SRI – Scholastic Reading Inventory—grades 3-12, online, available once a month
- SMI – Scholastic Math Inventory – grades 2-12, online, available once a month
- MAP – Measures of Academic Progress – Reading, Math, grades K-9, offered three times a year, taken at Central Campus by appointment with your visiting teacher
- FAST – Reading Assessment K-3rd – offered three times a year, given by teacher in your home
- ACT – Free for 11th graders in April, taken at your neighborhood school, sign up with Kim
- Woodcock Johnson –alternative testing which can be arranged with your visiting teacher
- Access to textbooks and resources used in the district
- K-12, all subjects, Teacher Editions, math manipulatives
- Consumable workbooks available for purchase
- Assistance with dual enrollment for classes and activities in district schools
- Year-end summary and official transcript verifying courses completed
