Innovative Learning Opportunities

The Flex Academy Studio provides various academic modalities and accommodating schedules for students in need of credit recovery and who desire the choice to determine their own learning style.

Des Moines Public Schools supports innovative ways for students and families to achieve academically through a variety of instructional modalities and personalized learning goals. This program and academic approach yield self-direction and prepare students for 21st century postsecondary prospects.

The Flex Academy covers a wide range of student choice in learning style including: online, offline, and blended instruction, topic-recovery, project-based learning, group projects, and individual tutoring.  Curriculum topics range from global, national, and local perspectives, and are designed to relate the content to real world experiences through the Standards Referenced Grading approach.
