21st CCLC Resources

Des Moines Public Schools and our 21st Century Community Learning Centers are proud to partner with several local and state organizations to support the success of this program. The following links are to some of our partners as well as other resources relating to 21st CCLC:

Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa: Partnering with 21st CCLC programs at G.W. Carver Elementary and McCombs Middle School, the BGGCI provides fun, creative and educational opportunities for our students. The website provides information regarding programming, staff and “club news” as well as ways to get involved.

Iowa Afterschool Alliance: The vision of the Afterschool Alliance is for all children, youth and families to have access to quality out of school opportunities. Afterschool Alliance provides resources, advocacy, partnership development and outreach to afterschool programs across the state of Iowa.

Iowa Department of Education: Information on what makes a quality afterschool program in the state of Iowa and standards for programming.

Iowa Student Loan: Iowa student loan has been helping Iowa students and families obtain the resources necessary to succeed in postsecondary education since 1979. Recently two 21st CCLC middle schools participated in a Financial Literacy class designed and delivered through our partner ISL with great success.

JC Penny Afterschool: JC Penny helps kids spread their wings by supporting life-enriching afterschool programs in every jcpenny community and has become of the nation’s leading champions of the afterschool movement.

YMCA of Greater Des Moines: The YMCA has a long history of commitment to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Through our partnership with the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, we are able to provide our students with opportunities which empower them to become healthy, confident, connected and secure.
