Looking for some part-time work? Driving a school bus or helping supervise students on a bus are both good paying, and rewarding jobs.
The school district’s Transportation Department employs 195 people who drive and maintain the school district’s more than 130 buses, safely delivering 11,000 students each day to and from their schools.
DMPS bus drivers operate a school bus in a safe and efficient manner to insure the safety of passengers. Key areas of responsibility include:
- Providing guidance to bus associates.
- Performing visual bus safety inspection at the start of each route.
- Keeping your bus clean.
- Maintaining appropriate student behavior on the bus and reporting policy infractions.
- Maintaining confidentiality.
DMPS will train qualified applicants and assist with the licensing and certification process.
