East High School Students Present Plans to Keep Peers in School
East High School students are taking part in a Youth Venture Challenge to promote student involvement and improve school climate as part of a dropout prevention grant from AT&T and America’s Promise Alliance. Student teams will present action plans aimed at improving their school’s climate on:

Three teams are competing to win $1,000 to implement their plan and all participating teams will receive $500. A selection panel will determine through set criteria which team project will make the greatest impact on the East High School community. The selection panel includes a DMPS school board member, an East High School administrator, an East High School teacher, a student government representative, and a representative from the Iowa Department of Education.
Participating student teams will be challenged with implementing their projects throughout the remainder of the school year.
