The 2016 Educator Career Fair is planned for Saturday, January 9 at the Iowa Events Center Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center. Interviews begin at 8 a.m. for pre-registered applicants. Walk-ins will be interviewed as time allows.

Candidates may pre-register at jobs.dmschools.org.

DMPS has seen its graduation rate increase by 9% over five years. This is in large part due to new leadership and a renewed focus on recruiting and retaining the best and brightest teachers with the best compensation package in Central Iowa K-12 education. The Alternative Teacher Contract includes a tuition-free Drake University Master’s degree for new teachers, and hiring bonuses have been added for hard-to-fill teaching positions.

DMPS continues to have the most career choices for teachers, with options including traditional schools, 10 International Baccalaureate World Schools, the state’s only public Montessori school, 11 alternative education programs, an extensive ELL network and Central Iowa’s first full-service community high school. DMPS is also home to two centrally located elementary schools, Walnut Street IB school and the national model Downtown School.

DMPS students, parents, teachers and staff come from many different backgrounds, all of which contribute to the richness of a DMPS education and teaching environment. With more than 6,000 ELL students speaking nearly 100 languages and dialects, DMPS in many ways is a microcosm of the world.
