DMPS Hires Interim Principal for Lincoln High School
Dr. Joan Roberts, former North High School principal, will serve as interim principal for Lincoln High School for the 2010-2011 school year, district officials announced today.
The decision to hire an interim principal at Lincoln High School was made after two rounds of interviews. The interviewing committee, which included parents, students, and staff, felt that it would be in the best interest of Lincoln to continue looking for the right person for the principal’s position.
Associate Superintendent Terrence Martin along with Lincoln High School staff decided Roberts would be a good fit considering her former experience as a high school principal in Des Moines.
“We are confident that Dr. Roberts will be able to assist Lincoln High School in its transition to the block schedule, and will also continue the implementation of the career academy structure at the school,” said Martin.
Des Moines Public Schools will actively search for a Lincoln High School principal beginning in January 2011 with the transition to new leadership occurring in July 2011.
