DMPS Bus Involved in Accident

A Des Moines Public Schools bus was involved in an accident with a motorcycle this morning at approximately 7:00 AM which resulted in the fatality  of the motorcyclist.

The accident occurred at the intersection of East 29th and East Douglas Avenue. Bus #571 was running its North High School route at the time, and approximately 20 North students were on board.

There were no injuries to any students or the bus driver.

The district’s grief team has sent counselors to both North High School as well as the district’s transportation office.

At this hour, the incident remains under investigation by the Des Moines Police Department.
