Even though tomorrow is the first day of Winter, it was still a good day for sailing as Prep Academy students held their annual cardboard boat races.

Students divided up into teams to design their craft, and then took to the pool at Central Campus to see if they were sea-worthy. Boats which were able to sail up and back the length of the pool went on to a final round to determine the winner. Congratulations to Yehet Squad, an all-female team of young maritime engineers and sailors, on capturing this year’s title.

The Prep Academy consists of 100 7th graders from around the district, 10 from each middle school, who spend part of their day at Central Academy. It prepares students who are part of our community’s under-represented populations to go on to take advanced courses at Central Academy.
