Carver Community School was the site of a Bike Rodeo on Saturday, May 9. Des Moines Public Schools teamed up with the Des Moines Bicycle Collective, Iowa Department of Transportation, Capital Park Neighborhood Association and VIVA East Bank to provide children with bicycles, helmets and locks. Students from Carver got to complete a noncompetitive and fun bike-training course that taught them bike handling skills. The course included nine learning stations run by League of American Bicycle Instructors such as helmet fitting, hand signals, avoidance weave, and big circle riding with others.
