August 22 marked the start of the 107th school year for the vast majority of students at Des Moines Public Schools. From preschoolers to high school seniors, more than 30,000 students showed up for the first day of the 2013-14 school year. 2,000 students already began the new year at one of our five alternative calendar schools.

Weeks Middle School kicked off the year with an assembly to introduce a brand new peer program called WEB which stands for Where Everybody Belongs.
