They come from around the world – from Iraq and Syria to Myanmar to Nepal – refugees fleeing strife and conflict to make a new home. Those who make their way to Des Moines have new welcome: the DMPS Summer Refugee Jumpstart program, an effort to help the newly-arrived refugees assimilate to the school district and community.
