We spoke with district activities director, Mike Zelenovich, and East High School activities director Ric Powell to talk about the districts’ high school sports and activities and tell us about a new district-wide Senior Awards Banquet planned for June.

Students who take advantage of extra-curricular activities offered by their schools reap many benefits, and some are even able to use their talents to further their education after high school.

The DMPS Senior Awards Banquet will be held on Sunday, June 10 at 4:00 p.m. in the East High Cafeteria. 10 seniors will be honored from each of the five Des Moines high schools for a total of 50 seniors being recognized. There are five categories with Male & Female winners in each category. Each school will honor 10 winners and invite them to this banquet.
