The following links provide additional information on school district policies and state and federal laws pertaining to public records requests made to Des Moines Public Schools:

• Iowa Attorney General: The Attorney General’s office has issued a series of advisory bulletins over the years answering questions pertaining to Iowa’s public records and open meetings laws.
• Iowa Public Information Board: The IPIB is a state agency to address questions or concerns regarding Chapters 21 and 22, Iowa’s open meetings and public records laws.
• U.S. Department of Education: The Department of Education has prepared a summary for parents describing which student records are and are not considered public under the FERPA law.
• School Board: The school district also has a policy in place on complying with public records requests.
